First Post

Process:
  1. My sketches helped me initially get started and it also helped me visualized my cube.  However, without graph paper, my sketches were confusing so I had to visualize my cube mostly in my head.
  2. Learning the schematic drawings was really cool and I know that it will be helpful in the future.  I feel like I know how to draw a successful schematic blueprint for my projects and that I know all of the technical aspects of the drawing.
  3. My overall cube is pretty much the same as my drawings, however, the only place my "craft" didn't come through all the way was when cutting the wood.  I would have the lines on the wood perfect but when using the round table saw, I would have the peices of wood a couple millimeters off causing slight cracks in the box.

Concept: Form and Function:
  1. My cube needed to be able to hold water and still work like a mug. However, I tried to make it look as simple as possible with it still having the function of a mug.  I feel like I successfully did this and the cube looms simple and, more importantly, it works.
  2. I feel like I communicated my conceptual intentions very well given the feedback I received from my peers and Mr. O.  Using this feedback, I was able to pick the right materials and have the right form while still making a functional box.
  3. Although we did not interact with a broader community outside of the classroom, I interacted with my peers to make sure I had a successful box.  They helped me by giving me feedback on design and function and I helped them by giving out feedback on design and function as well as some knowledge on materials.
Overall:

  1. Throughout this project, I realized how much I like using different materials to create a a physical project with function.  Throughout survey, I was never really interested in drawing, painting, or taking pictures.  I realized through this project that I am better at sculpture and I have more fun using different materials and power tools.
